![]() ![]() The default shell is usually Bash but if your machine is set up differently you can run it by opening the Terminal and typing: bash. You may want to keep Terminal in your dock for this workshop. You access Bash from the Terminal (found in /Applications/Utilities). The default shell in all versions of Mac OS X is Bash, so no need to install anything. This installation will provide you with both Git and Bash within the Git Bash program. When the install is complete, click on “Finish”.Select the second option for Use Windows’ default console window and click on “Next”.Leave the selection on “Checkout Windows-style, commit Unix-style line endings” and click on “Next”.If this happens, rerun the installer and select the appropriate option. Installing miniconda on Linux can be a bit tricky the first time you do it completely from the terminal. I still like its environment manager, which installs to a global directory rather than a local directory for your project. These days windows are much better than it was back then at compiling c-extensions. ![]() It made it much easier to install the data science stack on windows a few years ago. It comes with its own environment manager and has eased the install process for many that do not have a way to compile c-extensions. It's a slimmed-down version of their very popular anaconda distribution. Miniconda is a python distribution from continuum. ![]()
